At Home With LYNN HILL: Greatest Climber Of All Time

Lynn Hill is a living legend in rock climbing, and one of the greatest climbers of all time. FREE Mini-Training on Overcoming Fear of Falling, and Find Your Fear Index With Hazel Findlay and Altitude ▶ https://altitudeclimbing.com/hannah She rewrote the definition of what was possible in climbing in 1993, when she was the first person - man or woman - to free climb The Nose on El Capitan in Yosemite - the most iconic big wall in the world. When asked who my dream collaboration would be on the Hannah Morris Bouldering channel, Lynn Hill’s name has always been right at the top of the list. I never thought I’d get the opportunity to climb with her on her home wall in Boulder, Colorado, until in late September last year - thank you so much to @roapcoaching917 for making it happen. Climbing on a homemade replica of the iconic climb in her backyard, @LynnHillClimbing told stories of near death experiences, free falling 70 feet in a climbing accident, and shared personal insights into her achievements, which go well beyond climbing the nose. Thank you so much to Lynn for showing us around your home wall, and for sharing your stories. 00:00 Meet Lynn Hill: Living Legend of Climbing 01:40 First Free Ascent of The Nose, El Capitan 04:03 Trying Changing Corners, The Infamous Crux Pitch 07:18 "It Goes Boys" 08:00 Changing Climbing History: The Significance of Lynn's Ascent 10:00 Free Climbing The Nose In A Day 11:45 Free Mini-Course On Falling With Hazel Findlay 13:30 Lynn’s 80ft Fall and Climbing Risks 18:00 How Lynn Hill Trained for Climbing 19:00 Pockets Climb On Wooden Board 20:35 Lynn’s Homemade Climbing Holds 21:25 What Do You Think of Olympics Climbing? 22:00 Projects With Sasha DiGuilian 24:50 Chris Sharma, John Bachar and Lynn’s Inspirations Lynn Hill Climbing on The Nose ☞ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yS63AdRSnl8 Lynn Hill's The Fundamentals of Climbing Course ☞ https://lynnhillclimbing.com/fundamentals-of-climbing/ Our Sponsors FREE UK Shipping on Mad Rock Shoes with Code HMBFREE ☞https://madrock.com/collections/shoes Want to Visit The Climbing Hangar? In Sequence: Katie Lamb and the Craft of Hard Bouldering | Patagonia Films

Katie Lamb is among the strongest boulderers in the world, but her tick list shows that she’s not motivated by grades or notoriety. Instead, she’s constantly on the hunt for boulders that inspire her full attention, something she can quietly work away at with total focus. When her send of Box Therapy (V15/16) pushes her to the center stage of the climbing conversation, what should have been a crowning achievement becomes a challenge to define what drew her to climbing in the first place. Urban Bouldering with Emil Abrahamsson in Bern 🇨🇭

This week, the Climbing World Championships take place in Bern, Switzerland. At the same time, in the same city, Hannah Morris shares a different side of climbing - unseen by many, but every bit as inspiring, valuable, and community focussed. As part of @mammut campaign, Hannah was invited to Bern to experience the local underground climbing scene alongside pro climber Emil Abrahamsson. Emil’s Bern Film ☞https://youtu.be/rGV4FzPneNQ Let It Bern by Mammut ☞https://youtu.be/8O48q6baeBw ☞https://letitbaern.com In the shadows of the city, Hannah Morris follows a secret guidebook put together decades ago by local climbers to uncover urban highballs, water challenges, and creative routes. This film was made in partnership with the wonderful folks at @mammut Although Hannah's story is tied closely to indoor climbing, and many of our community finds adventure in their local bouldering walls, in Bern, Hannah finds a kindred spirit. She finds community to push herself, creativity in movement, and a sense of self-accomplishment, which ultimately, reminds Hannah why she climbs. 00:00 Griffbar Indoor Bouldering Wall 01:12 Hannah Morris Meets Emil Abrahamsson 01:50 Water Challenge in Bern 04:50 Traverse Challenge on Blood Tower 08:25 Bouldering at The National Museum 09:10 Hannah Morris Highball Climbing Project 15:45 Hannah Morris Highball Send Attempt 21:02 Buildering in Bern Old Town 22:58 What Climbing Gives Me Hannah Morris Bouldering T-Shirts & Stickers (UK & US) ☞https://hannahmorrisbouldering.com/shop Hannah Morris Bouldering T-Shirts (EU) ☞https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/HannahMorrisBoulder Follow Hannah: ☞Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_hannahmorris_ Follow Nathan: ☞https://www.instagram.com/nathanbetts_/ Our Patreon: ☞https://www.patreon.com/hannahmorrisbouldering Our Local Climbing Wall: ☞https://www.instagram.com/tchsheffield/ Our Favourite Gear Shop: ☞https://www.outside.co.uk

Ascend: Forced to flee the Taliban, Afghan women find a home in climbing | Patagonia Films

Mina Bakhshi, Haniya Tavasoli and Rabia Hussain had a fair amount of latitude for women in Afghanistan, able to pursue their education, go to work, and explore hobbies and interests. Joining Ascend, a nonprofit organization teaching leadership and rock climbing to women, gave them the chance to test their personal and cultural limits and explore the mountains of their home country. But when the Taliban took over in August 2021, Ascend became their one chance to escape a regime that would restrict their freedoms and future. While the women of Ascend were being resettled in other countries with volunteer host families from Ascend’s network—often other climbers wanting to help—Merryn Venugopal and Michelle Pellette, two members of Yosemite Search and Rescue, were also looking to find ways to support fellow climbers in need. They invited the women to spend a week in Yosemite, where they could safely reunite and find solace in the climbing community. Now, as they build new lives in a country separated from their families, the women find that meeting other climbers in Yosemite is also a connection to home.
