Debout – Hommage à Trisha Brown CRÉATION 2018 POUR LA 40e ÉDITION DES HIVERNALES 23/02/2018 - Les Hivernales - CDCN d'Avignon (Eglise des Célestins) Antoine Le Menestrel | Compagnie Lézards Bleus "Je reviens souvent à la position debout qui est neutre, entre deux mouvements ; cela me sert à mesurer où j’ai été et voir où je vais" Trisha Brown. En 1987 Antoine Le Menestrel est grimpeur de haut niveau, il découvre les débuts de Trisha Brown qui avec des danseurs, des peintres et des "performeurs" se livraient déjà à toutes les audaces en plein air. Antoine Le Menestrel transforme alors sa performance sportive en performance artistique et devient le danseur de façade que l’on connaît. Dans cet hommage à Trisha Brown, il revient à la source de l’intention des performances de la chorégraphe et revisite ses fondamentaux à l’aune de son histoire à la verticale. L’architecture est une partition chorégraphique. L’improvisation est une source de présence augmentée. Le regard du spectateur exerce une gravité sur l’artiste. Pioneers of vertical dance BANDALOOP return to their mountain roots. SHIFT is a wilderness performance in one of the Sierra Nevada's most rugged, remote locations in Yosemite high country. Performed and filmed over two weeks during Summer 2015, the dancers and crew traversed nearly 100 miles on foot and danced on the sides of Yosemite's stunning landmarks, including Mount Watkins (elevation 8,500'). Challenging the boundaries of site-specific performance, SHIFT is historically significant within the canon of American dance, transporting the aesthetic of dancing remotely in fragile landscapes back to the urban realm. With AscenDance Project, founder and artistic director Isabel von Rittberg gives birth to a new genre of dance that fuses rock climbing, music and choreography performed on a vertical wall. Without ropes or suspension, dancers use sheer strength to overcome gravity with grace, beauty and artistic prowess. The performance is uplifting and leaves the audience inspired. AscenDance performers come from various backgrounds such as Gymnastics, Parkour, Rock Climbing and Dance. Incorporating movement from different disciplines allows them to push boundaries, create a new vocabulary of dance and innovative choreography. AscenDance Project received international recognition in 2010 when the company reached the semifinals of NBC’s America's Got Talent. Since then, the troupe has performed in venues across the globe. Isabel von Rittberg longs to connect with her audience and hopes to make them feel something. Music is her gateway and the true inspiration for her pieces. Isabel von Rittberg was born and raised in a small village in Germany, Beyenburger Freiheit. After graduating with a BA in Latin American Studies and French from the University of Santa Barbara, CA she founded the AscenDance Project, a troupe that performs choreographed climbing to music. We are re-staging “Crossing,” a wilderness performance in one of the Sierra Nevada's most rugged, remote locations in the Yosemite high country. “Crossing” is historically significant within the canon of American dance, challenging the boundaries of site-specific performance. Transporting the aesthetic of dancing remotely in fragile landscapes back to the urban, we will bring this work to large and diverse audiences both online and through live multi-media performance. Amelia Rudolph originally created “Crossing” in 2001, performed over 18 days, across 78 miles and on a 1200 foot cliff. A literal crossing of the Sierra mountain range as performance, these dances were filmed and incorporated into an evening-length theater work performed in San Francisco, China and at the Kennedy Center.
